Complete List of Pubs in Hampstead Showing the Football World Cup
By Simon__Lee | Monday, June 07, 2010, 16:40
The world cup kicks off, as far as I'm concerned, at 7PM this Saturday evening. Luckily I'll be picnicking during the day upon Hampstead Heath (weather permitting of course) and come 6PM, I'll be dragging everyone down to whichever pub is most convenient. But of course, things like this need planning. Venues are sure to get packed pretty quickly and there's nothing worse than having to stand through 90+ minutes. Well, there are, but I felt like being dramatic...

Big Screens in Pubs...
Jesse Custer already mentioned some options over on his article, but having rung round our local drinking holes, here follows and official list of all of the venues in Hampstead showing the 2010 world cup:
The King William IV - This pub's always been alright but being on the the main road, it might get a little busy. Can also see issues what with so many high tables with seeing the screens, especially as they told me they'll be having lots of small ones.
The Flask - Sponsored by Youngs so one would think it would be well equipped and well laid out. Probably big enough to accommodate and conveniently near the tube but hidden down a tiny road. Could be one of the better bets...
The Hollybush - A lack of a website, but a 32" TV. Possibly lacking in the screen department, but way off of the beaten path so most likely to be full of locals and the cool people who are aware it even exists...
The Wells - Now I'm going to be honest, I've never actually been to The Wells so it's going to be pretty tricky for me to say anything positive or negative regarding the World Cup. When I rang them however, they did mention that they would be showing the games, but they weren't making a fuss about it...
The Horse Shoe - Again, a lack of a website, but a Facebook page for your entertainment... Possibly my least favourite drink venue in Hampstead, but probably laid out pretty well for the football. More impressively though, they do boast the largest TV in the area. A whopping 50"!
The Roebuck - As with The Flask, the Roebuck's football is promoted by Youngs. There's actually a fair few pubs down this end of town showing the games, so take your pick...
The White Horse - Down the other side of Royal Free Hospital fro the Roebuck, I've heard that The White Horse is particularly good for showing sport. The have two TVs in their possession, one 42" and one 37" so it should be pretty easy to get a decent spot.
The Magdala - Again, a place I know very little about. With a 37" screen though, it could be worth a try.
The Rosslyn Arms - And finally, the wild card. The Rosslyn Arms has a 42" screen. If anyone pops down, let us know what it's like!
So there you have it. A choice of nine venues to watch England storm to glory over the next month! Let us know where you're going to be watching and why!

I went to the White Horse yesterday . Crowded of course, but good atmosphere and enough TVs. Worth doing.
