You would have had to have spent the past year on another planet to have missed that we’re currently in a recession. Or leaving one. Either way, many of us have spent the last year observing the chaos around us and either wondering what all of the fuss is about, or trying to rebuild from the ground up.

Either way, it’s been quite clear that the housing market has been severely affected over the past year. The majority of people seem to have been digging their heels in and sticking where they are for now, but of course there are those who have had little choice but to search for a house. Of course, moving is stressful at the best of times, but finding an affordable house in this climate can be difficult.

Of course, if you can afford to move into the majority of houses in Hampstead, then I imagine the recession hasn’t been too hard on you. Sanfords, for example, currently only has three properties on their website, the cheapest of which is going for 2.25 million. It’s a stunning property, but out of most of our price range.

Of course, there are cheaper properties available, but they seem to be around the edge of Hampstead and down into Camden. Heathgate Estate Agents, for example, has a one bedroom apartment, but it’s down in Primrose Hill. If you do want to stick close to home, however, there’s a rather lovely apartment down near Parliament Hill with Amberden Estate Agents. £310,000 is affordable right?

There are so many Estate Agents in Hampstead, as can been seen on this list and also in our own business directory.

There was a report however a month or so ago that property in Hampstead is becoming more available as celebrities are actually moving out of Hampstead itself. They’re not going far, but it seems that should this trend continue, then in the future house prices could fall slightly in Hampstead. But for now, if you’ve got the money, there are some beautiful properties available. It’s just a case of finding them.
