Keeping an On-line Eye on Hampstead and Kilburn's Electoral Candidates
By Simon__Lee | Wednesday, April 07, 2010, 21:20
So the 2010 general election has been announced and it's generally been acknowledged that Hampstead and Kilburn is going to be one of the seats that could really swing things one way or another. Exciting isn't it?

Vote on May 6th 2010
In today's fast-paced world, the easiest way to keep track of those elusive creatures who are our electoral candidates is surely through through the medium of the internet. So here are the best ways to keep track of what they're up to:
Chris Philp (Conservatives): Chris has a pretty good on-line presence. You can check out his blog here but more importantly the guy loves his Twitter account.
Ed Fordham (Liberal Democrats): The LIberal Democrats are convinced that the Hampstead and Kilburn seat is within their grasp. According to their website, they only need 474 votes to win. Ed's blog can be found here and obviously he's on ye olde Twitter.
Tamsin Omond (The Commons): Tamsin's 'thing' seems to be using the web as one of her main techniques for campaigning. The commons homepage will tell you a lot about her, as will her blog. But if you really want to engage with Tamsin, add her on Twitter. The girl lives on it!
Glenda Jackson (Labour): Our current MP doesn't seem to be bothered with the digital effort that her peers are making. You can pop onto her website, but there seems little input from her personally.
Beatrix Campbell (Green Party): Similar to Glenda, Beatrix doesn't seem to have much of an on-line presence. You can find her homepage here but there's a lack of anything else...
Mikel Sisperregi (English Democrats): I'll be completely honest. I had no idea Mikel was even running. Pop his name into Google and you'll see why. You can find him on Facebook though.
Iain Meek is going to run as an independent. He's on Facebook, too.
So there you go. For you Twitter buffs out there, I've made a list to save you all adding the candidates individually. Aren't I nice!
If anyone has any more information, or if I've missed a Twitter account or anything, please post it on here to keep us up-to-date!

ReportThanks for that Simon.
My policies are
1 excellence generally- find the best dustbin man, the best illegal immigrant, the best civil servant- and give each one a medal. Obviously I'll get one for being the best MP!
2 sensible government by sensible people- well I'm an architect and we have to get things done.
3 independent MP's to back whichever Government policies are excellent and sensible- this party system has shown itself to be corrupt and encourage irresponsible activity by MPs.
4 a more equal society- tax the rich, not the poor- even higher taxes for the rich above a multiplier of the base rate- the multiplier dependent on what the Government needs to raise.
5 sort out the housing crisis- everyone needs a decent house in this climate.
6 an end to VAT on sanitary towels- this is not a luxury!
A quick CV

By the way, I need nominations in order to stand. Any local electors willing to sign me up before 20.4.10?

ReportI find Twitter useful if you've got something to promote... It's also pretty interesting as a normal member of the public. I know people aren't going to be interested in 'Today I enjoyed the sun' but it's a useful tool for keep up-to-date and real-time with what's going on with teh things that interest you!
