Fireworks Night in Hampstead

It’s that wonderful time of year again where we all go and watch things exploding in the sky and my dog hides under the table.

Unfortunately there’s rather a lack of actual displays in Hampstead, and with no display at Alexandra Palace this year, it does seem we’re all going to have to venture rather far if we want to see a display. One thing we do have is one of the best spots in London to watch fireworks from. Last year I went up with a picnic to the top of Parliament Hill, one of the best views of London, and got a great display for free! I’d highly recommend it! To get there, head up Parliament Hill (the road marked here) and once you come to the Heath, just follow the path as it veers to the right.

Naturally, no fireworks night is complete without sparklers! Luckily you can buy these pretty much anywhere it seems, but if you are struggling, try the supermarkets (see below) or even one of the party shops listed in our Halloween article.

Of course, some of you out there will fancy putting on a display of your own! Unfortunately those shops that used to crop up once a year to sell us fireworks aren’t allowed anymore so the only place to get fireworks is in supermarkets, which is something we actually rather lack in Hampstead! You could always try to Budgens down in Belsize Park or trek further afield and go to the Sainsburys on Finchley road. Of course, whilst here you can stock up on party food and drink to make sure you have a lovely Friday night. Just remember, don’t let off fireworks under the influence of alcohol! And above all, be safe and have a great night!

I'll be heading up to Parliament Hill with a bottle of wine. Not alone of course. That would be rather sad...
