A few weeks ago we wrote an article on how to save energy in your home. I'd like to say that Local People websites pushing this subject inspired the country to join in, and you never know. This week (25th-29th October) is national energy saving week.

Change your light bulbs to energy saving ones for a massive saving
Camden council website has posted a check-list of other things that will save money in the run-up to winter, and of course in the long-term as well:
- Use sealant to reduce drafts around windows, floors and skirting boards. £20 a year.
- Replace all bulbs with energy saving bulbs. Up to £70 a year per bulb.
- Insulating your hot water tank. £35 a year.
- Insulating your loft. £145 a year.
- Insulating your wall cavities. £110 a year.
- When purchasing a new appliance, look for the Energy Saving Trust Recommended logo. £38 a year.
- Double glazing. £130 a year.
So there you have it. If you did everything in that list, you could potentially save yourself £500 a year, and that's without changing any light bulbs. Change everyone in your house, and you're looking at another couple of hundred a year. And do you know what's also great? You're saving the planet too!
