Local residents are invited to learn more about the specialist end of life care and support services available in their community, at a special event being held in Hampstead.
The community event is being hosted by local home care company SweetTree and will be attended by representatives from a range of organisations, including Chai Cancer Care and the North London Hospice.
"Many people wish to be able to spend their final days at home, with family and friends around them. In many cases this is possible if the correct support structures are in place," explains Barry Sweetbaum, managing director of SweetTree.
"This event will be a chance for them to learn more about the services that are available and which can help make this happen."
As well as talks and information stands there will be the opportunity for attendees to speak with experts on a 1-2-1 basis, about their own personal situation and any questions they may have.
"For both individuals and their families the fear, emotional hurdles and practicalities of caring for someone at this stage of life can be very challenging. We want people facing these issues to know that they are not alone - there is a community around them that understands and will support them through these difficult times," added Sandy Seymour, head of palliative care at SweetTree.
"This event will be an opportunity for people to meet and hear from expert care teams, to share their experiences and find out more about the support services that are available both locally and nationally. It will be a relaxed and friendly setting and we hope people will take a lot away from it."
The community event is being held on Tuesday 15 October at Britannia Hotel in Swiss Cottage and will run from 11am to 2pm. To attend and for more details, please call Nadene on 0207 624 9944.
