Been away for a while but everytime I return I wonder why the once useful clock on top of The White Horse at South End Green is still not working despite a fund raising effort some years ago, and now the face of George Orwell has gone from his plaque above the door of the former bookshop in which he used to work on the corner of Pond Street.
( opposite Marks and Spencers)
Small details perhaps, but in the case of the former, local people paid into a fund to ensure the clock was repaired along with support from the landlord of the pub, and in the latter case Orwell's association with South End Green and Hampstead should continue to be recognised.
