The changes in their shift patterns are a deliberate attempt to undermine their responsibilities and to create insecurity within their ranks.
These tactics have been employed over many years, usually by Tory Governments who fear the threat of industrial action by anyone.
No strike agreements should be adequately compensated.
This applies to the Police, Nurses and doctors, The Fire Sevice and other workers providing necessary essential sevices to the public.
The concept that The Fire Service is being irresponsible, and risks peoples lives by its actions should be countered by the reposte that any government that fails to recognise the daily danger that firemen face is itself failing to understand how the great British public feels about those who serve them.

ReportI'd agree to an extent. Though this is a little worrying: http://tinyurl.com/26xayuk Striking on firework night? Not the most sensible thing ever...

I agree that the fire service does a great job but they were aware of the risks when they signed up and striking for such a core safety service, especially on the one night of the year where there are fires everywhere, is basically blackmail.
All it will take is one deadly housefire that could have been prevented for all public support to disappear and give the final proof that unions/striking are an outdated tool for representing the voice of the workers which needs a serious overhaul.
