The police have released a crime map so that people can see a spread of the crimes that have occurred in their local area. In addition to this, local residents are able to view the members of their local neighbourhood policing team.

Anyone curious in Hampstead can of course visit the website and check out the local information for our area! From who the local team are (a set of five officers including PCSOs lead by Sgt Steve Pepper) to how much crime has occurred in the past few months.

The really interesting thing is of course the crime maps. It’s interesting to see where our local crime is centralised, and nice to see where it isn’t.

In December of last year, there were 660 crimes in Hampstead, and the surrounding area (this reaches down to Chalk Farm. See the map for the area.) It’s not the lowest rate in the country but most definitely not the highest.

It’s nice to see that the lowest concentration of crimes are in the north Hampstead area, around Jack Straw’s Castle and Whitestone Pond. Surprising considering the dark roads and lack of foot traffic around there, but there you go! As we head south, the occurrence of crimes becomes more common, with the peak being at Chalk Farm with 91 crimes occurring in December.

If you’d like to get involved in police events across our community, then there’s also a section detailing how to do so.
