Belisize Park tube was closed yesterday due to a hit and run incident that occurred early in the morning.

A young girl of twenty years of age was hit near Royal Free hospital and dragged a mile to Haverstock Hill. Identification was found on her, showing that she was from Singapore and that Thursday was her birthday. Presumably she had been out celebrating.

Not only was the tube station closed, but local travel was interrupted as roads were closed in order for police to investigate this terrible incident. As of yet there are no suspects and investigations continue.

They've actually held someone now over the incident (a bus driver surprisingly). It's not been revealed how they discovered, but it wouldn't be unreasonable to guess they used the CCTV. There's a pretty detailed article over here: http://tinyurl.com/23ttlxy

I live nearby and know the area quite well.
What I really do not understand is, there are CCTV cameras between belsize park tube station and the place where she was thought to be run over in order to fine people (people driving bus lane: I know this by heart, as I got one), but not to be able to find what was actually happened in this incident.
I feel really sorry for this girl (she must've had bright future ahead of her), and extremely furious what is wrong with us (accepting this useless cameras).
I really don't get it. Could anyone justify this, please?
