McDonalds Applies to Extend Opening Hours

Did anyone else see that McDonalds in Hampstead High Street is applying to keep it's doors open an extra two hours a day? The branch has been open for a few years now, and was lucky to be able to open in the first place considering the sheer number of people who were against it back then (a little before my time in Hampstead!)

Once again, people are rising up against the chain. Ham&High announced in last week's issue that the corporate giant has applied to open on hour early (5AM) and close an hour later (midnight).

Some would think that an extra hour or so would have little affect, but the concern is that people will leave bars later, knowing that the outlet is still open, and people may drive into the village in the early or late hours with the intent of grabbing a burger, there-by causing more traffic and creating a nuisance.

So thoughts? Should McDonalds do as the please or should they respect the wishes of a select few in the community?

Take McD and while we're at it, Tesco to the edge of town and send 'em packing.

I feel that this is something of an over-reaction. Let them do it. I've walked down Hampstead High Street at half eleven at night and it's dead. The pubs all close at eleven, if not before. There really won't be an issue. And chat or people 'driving in to Hampstead' is madness. There's nowhere to park, people won't come to us, there are McDonalds all over the place. I garantee they'll end up changing their opening hours back within a couple of months.
