Hampstead Road Works Soon To Finish

As anyone who has been to Hampstead in the last month will know, we've had a new addition to Heath Street in the form of extensive waterworks. Here's some lovely photos for those of you who haven't had the joy:

Of course the works have been a major inconvenience of everyone, people trying to visit Hampstead by bus and of course for the local businesses. No matter what people claim, a load of roadworks in from of your restaurant is always going to affect business, even if only slightly. No-one wants to sit and eat whilst looking at a load of metal fences.
But fear not, there is hope on the horizon! Over on Camden Council's homepage we're told that the works should be over by 'early September'. Of course a nice specific date by the powers-that-be there, presumably to give them as much room for movement as possible. But I'm sure it's not unreasonable to hope for the work to be finished by the 15th of September.
Only 15 days to go then!

Wouldn't it be lovely if they pedestrianised the area around the tube? It gets so busy during the day and obviously motorists have coped whilst the works have been going on. Would make the area even nicer and any money local businesses would lose from passing motorists would be more than compensated for by the novelty of having a pedestrianised area in London.

ReportThank goodness. I'm sick of the bus going all the way down to Hampstead heath station and having to walk all the way back up. Though it's actually been quite nice in the evenings as a pedestrian. Nice and quiet!
