Is Snow Coming to Hampstead?

Many of you would have heard murmurings of snow on the social networking sites, with those living in the north talking of the white stuff arriving after weeks of anticipation. Yet will we be hit, as we were last year, here in Hampstead?

The simple answer is we don't know, but looking a little deeper into the local weather reports suggests that we're likely to get a light sprinkling by the beginning of next week at the very least.

If past years are anything to go by, it seems that Winter has moved forward, with snow normally hitting us in February, or even as late as March. The first day is always enjoyable, but for those of us in the capital who rely on getting into work, or else don't get paid, it's frustrating that the UK transport system can't seem to cope with even the lightest snow-fall. Even the tube, a system that is mostly underground, struggles to keep going due to a proportion of it being exposed to the weather. Hampstead's Northern line, and West Hampstead's Jubilee line, are often the most affected, and in the worst snow, buses often struggle to even reach Hampstead because of the hills.

So, who's hoping for snow, and who would rather it avoids us completely?

I'd love it, but I need to get to work... It's ridiculous how much comes to a halt when the white stuff hits!
