Planning approval has been granted for over 250 new homes at Maiden Lane Estate, half of which will be affordable homes meeting the needs of the local community.
The Council's development control committee gave the go-ahead on 7 February for 71 homes for social housing, 53 for shared ownership, and 141 for private sale. Estate residents will receive priority for the housing in the development.
The scheme has been developed as part of the Community Investment Programme, our 15 year plan to invest money in schools, homes and community facilities.
In addition to housing, the scheme is also expected to deliver wider social and economic benefits to the local area, including community facilities, and employment and training opportunities. There will also be space for businesses including shops and cafés, and premises reserved for start-ups.
