Hampstead's Giraffe Cafe Opens - Food Review

Giraffe has been an established eatery in Hampstead for a good few years now, and the owners have decided that it's time for a bit of a change. On Tuesday evening, we popped down to check out the new look Giraffe Cafe.

From the outside, it all looks quite familiar. A few new tables grace the pavement, but stepping through the door reveals a complete revamp inside. The interior's nice enough, but the main (and best) improvements come in the form of the brand new menu.
Over the course of the evening we were treated to a variety of the new dishes that the Cafe has to offer. Chicken and prawn skewers wet our appetite, but the real revelations came with one of the best burgers I've ever tasted and a fantastic vegetarian dish in the form of the 'Open 'Saltie' Focaccia Sandwich' (well worth checking out, even if the combination of beetroot, radish and egg sounds a little unusual!)
The new menu has a decent amount of choice, and is particularly good if you've got a group of people with varying dietary needs. The vegetarian selection (I'm reliably informed by my partner) is good, and rather kindly, the menu is mark with 'GF' for dishes which are gluten free, something that can often be an issue in some restaurants.
I'd definitely head back to Giraffe, and would pop it in the list of places that I regularly consider when eating in Hampstead. The prices aren't bank-breaking (though if you're buying alcohol, as with any restaurant, the bill will creep-up quite quickly) and the food some of the most satisfying I've had in a while.
