The cricket season is coming to an end, and Hampstead Cricket Club, after an interesting season that saw them just remain in the Premier League, will be hosting their annual celebrity cricket match.

The chairman of Hampstead Cricket Club is star of TV's Downton Abbey, Jim Carter. He has organised this years event and is expecting other members of the show's cast to attend the event. In addition, regular visitor to the club, Emma Thompson, along with other members of the cast of Harry Potter are expected to attend.

The event will not only include a celebrity cricket match, but also cake stands and various other fete-style events and, of course, there is always a reason for such an event. This year the event is an attempt to encourage people to join the Anthony Nolan register. The register is a list of people who are willing to donate their stem cells and bone marrow to anyone who may need it. It seems that people are willing to donate blood but are often put-off by the process of stem cell and bone marrow donation. Jim Carter wants to dispel the myth that it is a dramatic and painful process and was quoted in the Ham&High: 'The process, if you are a match, is not as dramatic as people think … It might hurt a bit but being wacked with a cricket ball hurts too.'

Entry to the event costs £2 and will take place between 1 and 5 PM at Hampstead Cricket Club.
