Most Expensive House of 2011 Sold in Hampstead

The most expensive house sold in the country was announced in the Land Registry's yearly review, and it comes as little surprise that it is a Hampstead property.

White Stone House sits on the edge of the Heath
The property, Whitestone House, was sold in May for just over £19 million, the most a house was sold for in the UK all year. It sits right on Hampstead Heath, and the estate agent responsible for the sale, Frank Townsend, was quoted in the Ham&High as saying 'You could not get any closer to the Heath, which makes this property extraordinary for that reason alone.'
Townsend also pointed out that his company have sold other houses around the same price, and part of the reason is that buyers want more for their money, and by looking outside of central London, they get just that.
Despite various sales however, it's clear that the year has affected sales of houses. £19 million is nowhere near the most expensive house in the country, and prices have indeed dropped all over. Maybe this year will see a rise in prices.

I settled for a house backing onto the Welsh Harp(Green Belt) just 3 miles north of the Heath, but about a fiftieth of the price

ReportWouldn't mind living in a house on the Heath. Anyone want to lend me £19 million?
