Compensation for Camden's Businesses Following Riots

It seems a while since London was hit by the riots, but Camden Council has made sure this week that businesses are clear that there is help available for anyone struggling to recover from the damage.

The majority of businesses should be covered, but there are the occasional ones who will be under-insured and Camden Council is linking them to Direct Gov website where there is help available under the Riots Damage Act. Business can alternatively call 0845 641 4925 or e-mail riotclaimsnotification@cl-uk.com.
Businesses will find that they need to respond quickly as the claim must be made within 42 days of the damage being caused, and that deadline is fast approaching.
In addition to this, funding is available for smaller business who may need a boost to get back on their feet. The High Street Fund are willing to give business grants who have been particularly affected by the riots. All that is required is a lose caused by the riots, for that lose to have been reported to the police and a police crime number.

I totally agree with this. Any local businesses deserve all the help they can get. It's not their fault that a (rather large) group of idiots decided to trash the place. I'm sure insurance will cover the damage in most places, but it's things like the business lost and other cost incurred that they may need help with. Good on Camden Council for even helping a little bit...
