It's not often that we hear of negative press about Hampstead's Royal free hospital, but it has come out recently that due to recent changes in benefits, a patient has been left without any support.

The patient in question is 50 year old Gerard Lamb who will be starting dialysis at the Royal Free this year, but because of changes to his benefit payments, has been left to be looked after by his wife Elizabeth, who cannot work and cares for him throughout the week.

His wife was quoted in the Ham&High this week as saying 'I need that support more than ever and the Royal Free was in the best position to provide it because they have experience of the medical and benefits systems. But it is not being offered.'

The lack of support from the hospital comes from the fact that the hospital had to close the department. The issue is currently being addressed and the hospital is hoping to hand the department over to another organisation.
