What began as a comment from one individual, has turned into a campaign with many voices behind it.

The call to have a lift installed in Hampstead Heath Overground station has attracted the attention of many local residents and celebrities. The station has never had a lift, and it regularly used by mothers with prams using the Heath, and disabled or old people visiting Royal Free Hospital. A difficult thing to circumnavigate in that area of Hampstead, with no other station nearby and only a few buses serving the area.

Comedian Sue Perkins and guitarist John Etheridge were both listed in the Ham&High as having lent their voices to the campaign. The campaign was started by Jonathan Bergman. Since then, residents such as Helene Curtis who claims that a lift being installed would 'make a phenomenal difference to my life'.

Needless to say, the nature of Hampstead and the surrounding area is that it attracts residents who may be older, and with the added factor of the Royal Free Hospital, a lift at Hampstead Heath Overground would make sense. Since the campaign started, TFL has said that it has made an application for funding to make Hampstead Heath Station more accessible. A sensible move.

I guess it makes sense. It surprised me to be honest that there are stations WITHOUT decent disabled access nowadays...
